Babies Storytime

Opening: Shake My Sillies Out – Raffi

Book: The Baby that Roared – Simon Puttock

thebabythatroared

(An adorable, and just scary enough, tale. Bright pictures, a Big burp, and a surprise ending made this a hit.)

Activity: Baby Duck – from Miss Mary Liberry

Baby duck, baby duck, are you in the [color] egg?

Babyduck1

Where is that duck?

Babyduck2

(If the kids found the duck early on, we changed the tune to look for a baby fish. If the other animals were discovered it was just a fun surprise!)

Book: Who’s Baby Am I? – John Butler

 whose-baby

(The kids loved this book. Great illustrations and a very simple premise.)

Activity: Bringing Home a Baby Bumblebee

flutter hands like wings I’m bringing home a baby bumblebee, won’t my mama be so proud of me!

I’m bringing home a baby bumblebee. …wait, what’s that!

pretend to clean face with ‘paws’ I’m bringing home a baby kitty cat, won’t my mama say ‘We’ll look at that!’…

wiggle with arms flat to sides I’m bringing home a baby tadpole, will my mama put it in a bowl…

jump up and down I’m bringing home a baby kangaroo, won’t my mama say ‘We’re not a zoo!’…

flick tongue in and out I’m bringing home a baby garter snake, won’t my mama say ‘For goodness sake!’…

wag ‘tail’ I’m bringing home a baby puppy dog, won’t my mama say ‘Don’t be a hog’…

stop feet on floorI’m bringing home a baby dinosaur, won’t my mama fall down on the floor!

I’m bringing home a baby dinosaur, can’t fit any more!

(This was a pretty fun activity, good for getting some action in the program.)

Book: Baby Dragon – Amy Ehrlich

Baby Dragon

(Baby dragon is supposed to wait for his mother, but what happens when he doesn’t? The kids gave all the correct responses about if he should wait or not. Fun and engaging, though I clipped some pages together for length sake.)

Activity: Springtime on the Farm – from the CD Animal Songs by Geof Johnson

(We had stuffed animals as visuals for this ‘make the animal noise’ song. Not such a hit with these groups, but it’s been successful before.)

Book: My Baby and Me – Lynn Reiser

mybabyandme

(And we ended with people babies! And their more skilled older siblings. Great photo and empowerment message.)

Activity: Bubbles
